There’s a gap from January 42 until July of that year when the next photo is dated, and the house in the pic looks very similar to the Federation houses here in Aus. However, it has to be Palestine chronologically, and is dated 20/7/1942.
The back reads, “T.H.Q. Personel (sic) 20/7/1942.

So all Gunner rank, interestingly. Appleby was from Mildura, and took several of the photos later sent home by Dad (H.E. Mann) as ‘postcards’.
